Fire and Flood Restoration

We provide Property Restoration Services that will help you when you need it the most

Let’s face it.. If you’re dealing with damage from fire, smoke, flooding, and bad weather..

It’s probably not the best day ever and you could use some help!

Property damage is an absolute nightmare.

Residential and Commercial Restoration Services

Disasters happen and none of us can plan for them. No one foresaw their house burning down due to a kitchen fire. No one thought a cigarette butt in a flower pot would turn into an inferno. No one thought the basement would flood in the middle of winter. These events happen all the time and no one could see them coming. You can check the weather app, but can you plan for extreme weather to tear through your garage? Fact is - these can be summed up as unfortunate circumstances that some of us go through, some more tragic than others. You might have had a thousand other things on your mind when you came home to find the fire department working to put out the flames. What goes through your mind other than shock? Does insurance cover this? Are my pets okay? What about all my important documents? It’s not unimaginable for a disaster to be the worst day of someone's life. Which is why restoration companies are so crucial.

Damage due to fire can have many causes and many consequences. Fire is obviously incredibly deadly and uncontrollable. Fire takes no mercy. Fire takes what it wants. The best way to stop it is putting it out with water. So imagine the fire department stopped the fire from spreading to every room in the house. Does it stop there? No - the rest of the house is full of smoke. Smoke and soot coats the interior of the house like a black blanket. Almost immediately the smoke combined with the humidity of evaporating water causes chemical reactions to take place on all surfaces resulting in corrosion. Even the areas not burned by the fire are at risk. The odor of smoke is “baked” into the walls, ceiling, furniture, and carpet. And all the excess water that was used to put the fire drained into the surrounding walls and floor joists. Just as fast, water damage and bacteria have taken over the basement below. There was so much water in fact, that the basement drain couldn’t handle it, the sump pump failed, and the basement is now flooded with dark, ashy, dirty water with floating remnants of furniture, articles of clothing, and your possessions. Feeling stressed is absolutely expected.

No matter the cause, you deserve to have all the help you need!

Careful Professionalism. Fire and flood restoration specialists are highly trained and certified to work in dangerous workspaces, such as those made possible by fire. Not only are they working safe for themselves and those around them, but they are experts at what they do. The materials will be safely removed, disposed of, and cleaned. In the event that reconstruction is required, the technicians will work in teams with journeyman carpenters to rebuild what was lost.

Compassionate Service. Understandably, some disasters can take a toll beyond the financial costs. If someone lost their home, they lost their most cherished possessions, most important documents and everything that made them safe and complete. Mindful of the situation, restoration specialists approach the situation with care and respect to the property owner and people affected.

Diligent Cleanup. Property remediation teams work diligently to resolve the situation. Time is of the essence! Not only is the team working to properly prevent water and smoke damage from continuing to make things worse. They are also working to make the property usable again. Every task is to be completed with accuracy and integrity. Likewise, commercial cleaning crews must work around hazardous areas.

Jessica B., Property Manager

“We hired Abatement Edmonton when the bottom floor of one of our apartment buildings flooded due to a burst pipe in the mechanical room. We knew the assets were getting older and we were planning a system update, but what we did not expect was the neighborhood’s power to go out on the same night as a winter deep-freeze. Several units had to be vacated unfortunately in order for the restoration team to do their work, but they had completed everything within a month ahead of schedule and we were impressed. If something happens like this again at any of our other properties, Abatement Edmonton will be our go to contractor.”

Christian D., Millwoods Resident

“The whole street flooded after a period of heavy rainfall. Super inconvenient and frustrated, I’m just happy no one was hurt. I found Abatement Edmonton on Google and they gave me a free quote. By the time the estimate had been completed, I felt Declan was personable and transparent. He was upfront about possible cost overruns, where things will be difficult and where things will be easy. Overall I was happy I decided to work with them.”

Deanna M., Castle Downs Resident

“A bit of a perfect storm. We have an older house and there was some mold in the basement we were unaware of. The mold and moisture encapsulated some of the old electrical, and there was a recipe for disaster. Fortunately the fire department was able to salvage half the house, but we had to vacate for a number of weeks for Abatement Edmonton to restore the basement. Ultimately, we found them to be kind. Hopefully we never have another fire again, but if we ever need restoration work I will definitely call Don.”

How much can restoration services cost?

This is very much a case by case situation. A house that burned down will be more expensive than a house that had a bathroom flood. The best procedure is to have one of our technicians come assess the situation to give you an accurate estimate. Some jobs have been as low as a few hundred dollars, whereas others have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. It truly depends on the size, scope, hazards, and whether outside consultants are required. So if you’re wanting to know how much restoration services can cost, we highly recommend taking the guesswork out and calling directly for your free quote.

A note on homeowners insurance:

We work with all insurance companies for remediation work. If you’re wondering whether an insurance company will cover the damages, it’s best to review your policy with them or give them a call directly to find out. Typically “perils” are always covered. These are your freak accidents. Other times the company more only covers up to a portion of the remediation costs. To find out for certain, you will want to contact them after your flood or fire restoration assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions about Property Restoration...

Q: Can I do restoration services myself?

A: If the job is small and you are fully capable, no one is stopping you. If however, the work is being issued by your insurance company or the scope is too large and complex, then a professional restoration company will be required.

Q: How long can restoration take?
A: Fire restoration varies depending on the damage and size of the project. The restoration time can be a couple of days to a number of months. Similarly, flood restoration might take a few days to a few weeks depending on the size of the job. You will have a better sense of this timeline after your assessment.

Q: If I have water damage, what should I do for the interim?
A: You will want to keep as much distance between the water and the electrical outlets and components as possible. Consider using pots, pans, buckets, a shop vacuum and even mopping to keep water levels low. If the situation becomes too dangerous, contact the authorities to cut off power to your house or vacate the area.

Q: Does Abatement Edmonton only handle pipe bursts or back ups?

A: No - we handle any kind of leak in your house or to your property. Garages can also be flooded, in fact we help restore a dozen garages every year.
